Travelling in the digital age

At this point, very few of us can remember the days when in order to travel people had to go to the yellow pages to look for travel agencies. Nowadays people just go online and see if you can get a wholesome experience at an affordable price. But let’s face it, reviews can be wrong, websites can be biased so how do you get a wholesome experience? How do you know who to trust? Is travelling in the digital age more difficult or is it easier. Where do you find genuine content?

Let us look at some sources of information that can help people make the right decision in choosing a travel destination. Choose a travel agency and above all allow them to experience a wholesome travel experience.

  1. Social Media

We live in age where social media has absolutely taken over our lives. Businesses and individuals give their opinions on social media. Sometimes these voices can be very one sided. So how can a tourist in a foreign land get to discern the truth? One can have a simple analysis of the content such as; what is the underlying tone of all feedback? What is the tone of the page admin when replying to messages? How often do people engage with the page? These questions can help determine the authenticity of the experience without directly talking to the travel agency.

Truth be told people are at times brutally honest on social media and how a business owner/page admin deals with said honesty can be a guiding light to the kind of customer service to expect. Doing an overall review of all social media platforms of the travel agency one intends to give their business to can be a good scale. This is because different social media platforms attract different demographics and varying opinions of the same truths.

  1. Websites

Every business in the modern age has an active website. Websites are the most basic source of online information for anyone. Company websites are able to tell us what packages specific agencies are offering on a particular time over a certain period.Sites go in-depth as we are able to get the prices of packages, location of packages and we are able to connect directly with the agency.

  1. Blogs

Blogs do better when it comes to search engine optimization than websites. This comes from the fact that blogs tend to have broader information on a particular industry than websites.

Therefor, more often than not when we google something in a question format the first results come from blog pages. Blogs tend to be less biased than websites and more general and informative about an entire industry.

  1. YouTube & Vlogs

As a consumer market, we broadly prefer video content than any other form of content. It is just easier to consume, understand and relate to. Getting information in video format is faster more convenient and more often than not more entertaining than any other form of content distribution.

All in all, travelling in the digital age can be simplified into one thing, information. As a traveler I want to get as much information as I can get at my convenience and as it happens the most consistent and most informative agency will get my business. as for travel agencies; they are in a competition for attention, the most informative, the most attractive, the most truthful and the most consistent content will always win out over other agencies when it comes to the digital information age.

Do your analysis today and see what the people are saying, in this digital age getting a good value for your buck is as easy as the tap of two key strokes.
